Anxiolytics (anti-anxiety medication) mainly include benzodiazepines, buspirone and few of the other agents like antidepressants, antiepileptics etc. In this video, all these drugs were discussed along with a note on their common side effects.
Antidepressants like SSRIs and SNRIs play a key role in treating an anxiety disorders and stand as first-line agents.
Barbiturates are nowadays less preferred due to high side effect profile and drug interactions.
Buspirone is a 5-HT 1A partial agonist indicated for chronic anxiety states.
