LaMar had a copy of the questions and read most of them off during the interview. At one point, LaMar moved the conversation away from the recording station to show an image in the home. Topics covered in part one of the interview include the Teton Dam disaster, his mother Ruth H. Barrus, music history, appreciation and training, starting Ricks College radio, the first public station in the state of Idaho and additional family relationships and history.
