Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are diseases of poverty, the “product of social inequity”, that represent numerous challenges for the health and economic development of populations in 149 countries.
These communicable diseases affect the lives of more than one billion people and are caused by a variety of pathogens.
With the support of partners and industry, unprecedented progress is being made to control and eliminate these diseases but more remains to be done.
