In this video a short history of special education will be presented for educators, including general education teachers and special education teachers. This video will cover modifications, accommodations, major legislation, laws that were enacted for the protection of special education students, a timeline of events that impacted individuals with disabilities, the unfortunate eugenics movement and it's impact on students with disabilities, the use of private education and exclusion of students with specific disabilities from those schools, the inclusions movement and the push for students into general education classrooms.
