Love is the key—that is the motto the Goodjohn family lives by. Whether they are at home or at the park, you can bet that Nandi, Troy, and his daughter Dior are doing their best to show each other how much they care.
Nandi has two kids from a previous relationship who live in South Africa. She and Troy take care of Troy’s 8-year-old daughter, Dior, who spends every other week living with her mom.
“It’s not easy for families to blend together. There are always complications,” Troy says.
Though successfully blending families can be tricky, the Goodjohn’s try to keep life simple when they are together. They turn even ordinary activities into opportunities to laugh and grow.
“We don’t have an agenda. The flexibility makes things fun,” Troy explains. “If we have too many things on the schedule and things are too rigid then it’s not fun.”
No matter where they are or what they are doing, the Goodjohns’ favorite part of being together is the sense of safety and happiness it brings.
“When we’re together, it feels like a sense of completion,” Nandi says.
