Having a script can be a great comfort when making a video, but what makes reading from a script often sound so... awful? And is there anything you can do? Of course there is!

Always have a plan: 0:21
Scripting advantages: 0:41
Scripting disadvantages: 1:03
Speech vs. writing: 1:29
Analyzing a YT script: 2:41
Steps for a great script: 4:46
1: Write an outline: 4:51
2: Using the outline, record yourself explaining it: 5:01
3: Write a script based on the recording you made: 5:24
Step 4: Record: 5:56
My version of the video script: 6:09
Outro: 6:47
Original Script:
The nervous system can be divided into two functional parts: the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The major differences between the two systems are evident in the responses that each produces. The somatic nervous system causes contraction of skeletal muscles. The autonomic nervous system controls cardiac and smooth muscle, as well as glandular tissue. The somatic nervous system is associated with voluntary responses (though many can happen without conscious awareness, like breathing), and the autonomic nervous system is associated with involuntary responses, such as those related to homeostasis.
My Version:
In this video, we're going to be talking about the differences between the somatic and the autonomic nervous systems. The somatic system refers to skeletal muscle, and this is under voluntary control. So if I tell you to contract your biceps brachii, you can do that - that's the somatic division. The autonomic nervous system basically innervates everything else; these are targets that you don't have voluntary control over, like your heart for example. If I told you to contract your jejunum (in your small intestine) you can't do it right? Even for extra credit! That's an example of the autonomic nervous system.
